AFP recently published its first ever report on special events fundraising. Based on responses to a survey, the report details findings on the number of events organizations hold per year, gross revenues, staff count dedicated to managing the events and indicators of success.
When I read the report, I was surprised to learn that while 43% of the respondents host at least 5 events per year, 56% of the respondents do not have a full time staff member dedicated to the function of organizing and managing events.
The report reveals other useful benchmarks like cost per dollar raised by type of event, level of volunteer involvement, and measures of success.
